This anniversary session was my very favorite one yet because it actually ended up being an anniversary session turned mini maternity shoot! I met Cassie + Travis on the way to their session (I carpool with my clients a lot), and we talked a lot on our 45 ish minute drive to our spot up Provo Canyon, and somewhere in that time (if I’m remembering it right, and that could be a big if) Cassie told me that she was like 5 months pregnant! She and Travis wanted to get some photos of just the two of them before baby Rue was born. And FYI, I am a huge fan of the name they chose 😉
I love shooting in the mountains in the fall, so every shot I saw through my lens during this shoot was stunning to me. I’m sure I didn’t shut up about how gorgeous it was the whole shoot…I usually don’t. I also LOVE how the light laid on the canyon that day, and how creamy + warm it helped the gallery look. Every time I look at this gallery I am mesmerized in a creamyyyy dream.
Cassie is beautiful in all of the shoots, but I especially love how she looks in the shot below. She’s having a genuine moment with Travis and she just looks so in love + happy + beautiful wow. You have to have some more posed shots that come with more posed smiles, but the genuine smiles and moments are always my favorite and the crowd pleaser…and with good reason.
And here’s where we did our mini maternity shoot. Neither Cassie or I were planing on taking these, but towards the end of the shoot we thought why not? She wasn’t showing a ton, but we placed their hands just right and I told Cassie to push it out as much as she could. Haha, it probably would have looked pretty ridiculous to watch from a bystander’s view, but luckily we were alone. And also who cares when you end up with these cutie bump photos.
The hands. Always the hands. Your beautiful hand holding your person’s hand. Never not going to shoot the hands.
